Luke 11:9-10 And I say unto you, Ask, and it shall be given you;
seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you.
10 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that
seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
That is quite a promise! If we ask, we will receive; if we seek, we shall find; if we knock, it will be opened unto us. The Lord is telling us that the first requirement is to have a desire in our hearts to receive from Him. Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. James 1:17. The Lord is encouraging us to ask, seek, and knock, because He wants us to receive from Him. So what should we ask for? Jesus tells us in the following verses.
Luke 11:11-13 If a son shall ask bread of any of you that is a
father, will he give him a stone? or if he ask a fish, will he for a fish give
him a serpent?
12Or if he shall ask an egg, will he offer him a scorpion?
13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts
unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy
Spirit to them that ask Him?
God wants to give us the Holy Spirit. We don’t have to be fearful that He will give us something harmful. We can fully trust the Lord to give us the very best gifts. So if we ask, He will give us the Holy Spirit.
Would you like to be filled with the Holy Spirit? Would you like to be led by the Spirit of God? Do you want Him to bring you into all truth (John 16:13)? We can confidently receive Him, because it is the will of the Father to give us the good gift of the Holy Spirit. He wants us to be mature men and women of God who live in His presence and walk with Him. So He is very willing to give us the Holy Spirit to lead us into His fullness. If we ask, it will be given to us; if we seek, we shall find; if we knock, it will be opened unto us.
There are uncharted realms of spirit that God wants us to walk in. He wants us to walk in His fullness, and more than at any other time it is necessary to do so. We have come to the day in which the Church is to experience the glory of the Lord and to see the fulfillment of all the promises. We will see the restoration of all things and the establishment of the Kingdom of God. However, we must understand that God wants to use us in establishing His Kingdom. And if we are going to become those who do the will of God, then it is necessary for us to be filled with the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. God not only wants us to know the truth, but He wants us to become the truth. Moreover, that is the ministry of the Holy Spirit (John 16:13). God wants us to know the things that belong to Jesus Christ, and it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to reveal them to us (John 16:15). Without the Holy Spirit we cannot grow in the Lord and become what He wants us to be.
